Signature Holiday Party

Signature Holiday Party: A Sensory-Friendly Celebration

The holidays are often the most stressful time for neurodiverse families. Between the bright lights, loud music, and pressure to "act a certain way," traditional parties can be overwhelming. The Autism Urban Connections Signature Holiday Party is the antidote to that stress—a festive, joy-filled event where every behavior is understood and every child belongs.

A Celebration Without the Stress

We believe that every child deserves the magic of the holidays without the sensory overload. Our party is carefully curated to provide a fun, safe environment for both children and caregivers. We swap out the chaos for connection, ensuring that "holiday spirit" means comfort and community.

What Makes Our Party Different?

  • Sensory-Sensitive Environment: We keep the music at a lower volume, avoid flickering lights, and provide "Quiet Zones" for children who need a break.
  • The "Cool" Santa: Our Santa is trained to interact with neurodiverse children. Whether your child wants to sit on his lap, high-five from a distance, or just look from across the room, there is zero pressure.
  • Inclusive Activities: From sensory-friendly craft stations to gluten-free and allergy-conscious snacks, we consider every child's needs in our planning.
  • Gift Distribution: Every child in attendance receives a gift, ensuring that the holiday spirit is felt by all.
  • Caregiver Relaxation: While the kids are engaged with our volunteers and sensory stations, parents can enjoy a hot meal and the company of other adults who "just get it."

Community Spirit in the City

This event is a highlight for our Pittsburgh families, especially those in our urban neighborhoods. It’s a chance for us to come together as a village, celebrate the milestones of the past year, and head into the new year feeling supported and seen.

How to Attend

Invitations are extended to our active family members first. Because this is a high-demand event with limited capacity to keep sensory levels low, pre-registration is required.
